Stop And Frisk (SSR)

Throughout the course of history, plenty of civilizations have been based on sets of laws to maintain balance and equality for the people. In our society, the legislative branch makes the laws, the executive branch carries out the laws, and the judicial branch evaluates the laws. You may be wondering if this is a essay for government class. Where am i going with this essay? I am here to talk about an issue in my community to that i feel most passionately about, and that is a law passed on Stop and frisk.

Stop and frisk is when police temporarily detain somebody and pat down their outer clothing when there are specific articulable facts leading a reasonable police officer to believe a person is armed and dangerous. In my community police stop and frisk people in our neighborhood particularly the races African-Americans and Latino Americans on a regular because we “fit the description”. What is the description? is the question I always wanted to ask. Is the description a black or fair skinned man? So does this give police officers the right to detain every single black and fair skinned person because we so called fit the description?

Everyday i sit and wonder how do we solve this problem? From what direction do we address this issue? We can’t protest because we’re obviously getting ignored. No one is willing to put the time and effort in it so our voices can be heard. A way that i can maybe resolve this issue is to maybe start a program that stands against the law on stop and frisk. This program would let cops and the whole police department know that the people in our community are not tolerating the presumptions that every black and latino male are up to no good.

Maybe i have been over thinking these problems, but this issue doesn’t only affect me but everyone in our community that has dealt with a stop and frisk encounter. Other people may have different perspectives about the the stop and frisk laws, but that doesn’t make it right for police to harass people. My idea may not work or go as far but it’s best to make ideas then sitting around doing nothing. You don’t sit and wait for change, Change waits for you.

Imperforate Anus (SSR)

Eliminating waste is very important and good for the body. The buildup of wastes in the body

should be prevented because some wastes like Urea and even Salt can cause harm to certain

organs. Also, we have the intake of undigested food, now, if we do not excrete would not be able

to continue taking in food. We need to give out waste so that we can continue this same cycle

over and over . Now, imagine being born with something that does not allow infants to drop their

wastes. Eventually the waste will build up, and their organs would be affected. The defect that

does not allow infants to drop wastes is called Imperforate Anus.

Imperforate Anus is a congenital (Present from a birth) defect of the anus. There is partial or

complete obstruction of the anal opening. The rectum is at the end of the large intestine where

feces is stored until they leave the body. Imperforate anus is when there is no opening at the end

of the large intestine where the anus is usually located. Imperforate anus can take several forms.

Imperforate Anus is mostly found when you are a baby in male or women. This disease may

stop you from going to the bathroom your normal way since it may mess up your urinary system.

It can also mess up men and women reproductive system but since this disease is normally found

in babies they wouldn't get to that stage to know. In an article in 2005, D. Spouge had said that

700,000 live born infants have been found with imperforate anus.

Rule # WHAT???? (CRR)

Today in English class we continued to work on our weekly assigned grammar rule. Each week Ms. Hegeman assigns a new grammar rule for us to learn and perfect. However, this tactic is not working for me because English is a skill which requires patients. Moving on to a new grammar rule each and every week is not a suitable amount of time for me to perfect any given rule. I am not the fastest or slowest learner, but it do take time for me to comprehend something so vital to my future writing skills. These Rules may be helpful to use through my essays but these rules are also hard to remember. Though these rules may be hard to remember, i have been able to remember rule 2 which was possessions. 

Even though i may come to school late, i also try to interpret the rules but its seems that the more i try the more i mess up. Also i know that these rules are for our own good and its preparing us for college i think we need to take these rules one step at a time. It seems as if we are rushing through the rules and jumping into other lessons which makes it hard for me to stay on track throughout this second marking period. I also think that we should take it one lesson at a time.

Brotherhood (PB)

A group of brothers is how I refer to these males that started brotherhood with me. Brotherhood is an organization that focuses on young men. With these young men, they try to incorporate the natural skills needed in life to survive in the real world. Being a young African-American male makes me a target to those eyes who belittled me without even getting a chance to get know me. Therefore, I need this guidance in order to change the stigma that people put on African-American young men. Brotherhood defines the true meaning in what it is to become a boy to man.

A couple of my peers and I (who I'm proud to say are now my brothers) joined this organization in early 2009. Since then, I've learned how to bond and cope with these young men as we transitioned from boys to men. With the help of our chapter leaders, we've developed strong relationships with each other. These Chapters leaders are our role models; they teach us how to be a man, a brother, and a leader. These Chapter leaders also help us develop as a person by helping us mature and even letting us know that its ok to say I love you to each other. Even though we may have our differences, nothing can break our bond. I'm also proud to be a part of this organization and I'm also thankful for the guidance and inspiration Brotherhood has given us.  

Super Size Me (ID)

For the past two days my Health class and I were watching an American documentary called Super Size Me. This documentary was based on a health man named Morgan Spurlock who conducts an unscientific experiment using himself. Morgan was required to eat only McDonald's for thirty days, three meals a day. If he is asked by the clerk if he would like the meal super sized, he has to say yes. And by the end of the thirty days, he will have had to have eaten every single menu item at least once.

Throughout this documentary Morgan enlightened his audience with several facts. One fact that was stated was that America is the fattest nation in the world. He also stated that each day 1 in 4 Americans visits a fast food restaurant. McDonald's operates more than 30,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries on 6 continents. McDonald's feeds more than 46 million people a day - more than the entire population of Spain. McDonald's represents 43% of total U.S. fast food market.

In the end of this experiment Morgan gained 24.5 pounds in 30 days. He also experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and liver damage. It took Spurlock fourteen months to lose the weight he gained."The bottom line, they're a business, no matter what they say, and by selling you unhealthy food, they make millions, and no company wants to stop doing that. Throughout this documentary it made me sit back and think about how i should eat more healthier and how eating all of this fast food can effect me in the long run.

Dear Mom (PB)

Dear mom,
                   I am passionate about many things. For example my family, my friends, my phone, but someone who I am really passionate about is my mother. Ever since the day I was born my mom has shown me nothing but love and devotion. My mom has been taking care of me for seventeen years of my life and taught me so many things such as learning how to save money, how to be confident, and most importantly how to become independent. The reason why I love and respect my mother so much is because not only did she teach me how have respect for others, but she also taught me how to become independent. I lost my father at a young age but instead of constantly mourning my mom took the initiative to fill his role and raise me as both my mom and dad. Even when she was at her lowest point she turned that negative situation around and made it something positive. The actions that she took influenced me to become a strong independent young man. She also taught me how to have a positive mind-set, because she is not always going to be there to back me up when I am at my lowest point. I can honestly say my mom is one of the best people that I have met in my life, and I am proud that she is in it. Thanks mom for always for always being there. I Love You.

The link above contains a devastating article that explains how a 12-year-old girl from Florida who committed suicide. Rebecca Ann like any other kid was a normal teenager living her everyday life. Last year Rebecca attended Crystal Lake Middle School in Florida. Unlike others Rebecca was one of the who get bullied in our every day lives. Bullying-use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.


This start of the bullying began last year over boyfriend problems.Last December, Rebecca was hospitalized for three days after cutting her wrists because of what she said was bullying, according to the sheriff. Later, after Rebecca complained that she had been pushed in the hallway and that another girl wanted to fight her, Rebecca's mother began home-schooling her in Lakeland, a city of about 100,000 midway between Tampa and Orlando, Judd said. Her mom had no clue that her daughter was being bullied in the new school. Even though Rebecca mentioned to her mother that she was being bullying in her old school. Rebecca's mother claimed that her daughter hasn't shown any signs of depression since she's been in the new school.She changed one of her online screen names to "That Dead Girl." She messaged a boy in North Carolina: "I'm jumping." And then, on Monday, the Lakeland girl went to an abandoned concrete plant, climbed a tower and hurled herself to her death.





I think that Bullying is wrong, and i also think that bullying comes in different shapes and forms. Some people can act like nothings wrong but deep down inside they're living in depression. Some people have to learn their limits and how far they can push someone. Bullying doesnt make you cool it makes you a coward. Instead of making someone feel bad about themselves, learn how to love and help one another. SAY NO TO BULLYING !!!

Jokes (FC)

Jokes... The definition of a joke is a thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline. There's more to a joke than that definition. To me, a joke is a way to express yourself through laughter. People use jokes in their everyday lives to either be funny, mock someone, or to just cheer someone up. When I was a child, I didn't really like to socialize very much. Even though I used to smile a lot, that didn't mean I used to talk a lot. As I began to get older, I really liked to tell jokes, not only because it was amusing but because it was a way for me to express myself to others. The reasons why I tell jokes are to make people happy when they're upset, to express myself, and most importantly to make others laugh. Making people happy is the main reason why I tell jokes because not only does it make the other person feel happy, but it makes me feel good inside. Even though they may seem easy, jokes aren't that easy to come up with. Some people think all jokes are as easy as a knock knock joke, but telling jokes takes a lot of time, patience, and creativity. Also when you are telling jokes to your friends, you have to think quickly because you never know when a person has an even more clever joke to use against you. Knock knock... Who's there...

English Class (CRR)

Today in english class we had a debate based lesson. Ms. Hegeman began to start a class discussion about 9 statements and we would respond on where we agree or disagree with the statement. Today i will be listing 5 of the 9 statements. The first statement was Artist only draw for money. I disagree with this statement because if you're doing something you love or something you particularly take interest in you shouldn't really care about the money. A second statement that was brought up in the class today was slaves express ideas because of their masters. I agree with this statement because throughout their whole life they've been listening to their master and interpreting ideas due to their masters actions and choice of words. The third statement was freeman are better than slaves. I disagree with this statement because as a freeman they barely get respect of the color of their skin. Also in most american civilizations freeman got looked down upon which really made it hard for them to find good paying jobs. The fourth statement was Christianity is against slavery. I disagree with this statement because in The Bible, many stories spoke upon slavery. Last but not least another statement was artist should identify their race through their works. I disagree with this statement because race should not matter , if they’re promoting their works they should express their feelings through art not their race. Today i had a good day in class and i enjoyed the lesson because we don’t normally get chances to express how we feel about certain statements.

StreetSquash(PB)

Passion Blog

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about StreetSquash. Why? Because StreetSquash is like a family to me. StreetSquash is an academic enrichment program which helps students improve their grades and get the study that they need. Also, they help keep their members fit by playing squash which is a lovely sport. I joined this program in 7th grade with a couple other students from my school. StreetSquash helped me improve my grades, stay on track, and stay fit. This program provided me with a lot of opportunities such as College Prep trips, Tournaments with kids throughout the states, community service, ETC.  Squash helped me stay fit throughout these 5 years also it helped me build a lot of confidence before a match, and also squash taught me how to keep my mound in a positive stated whether I'm winning or losing. In Squash you learn to gain a lot of sportsmanship because you are a self referee you can't be a cheater you have to play with integrity. StreetSquash is like a home to me because i can go there anytime to do my homework, discuss personal problems which stays confidential, and play squash to release stress. Also StreetSquash has a great academic support system that provides their students with laptops, tutors, and double study. In 9th grade StreetSquash has been preparing us for the college process.  A college prep session is given once a week and every week which helps us get familiar and exposed to some college materials and terms. I am grateful for having StreetSquash for giving me these opportunities.
