The Heart Of Darkness

Throughout life people either pose you as one of two this, good or bad. The Heart Of Darkness is a book based upon a corrupt general named Kurtz in his downfall. In the book Mr. Kurtz was looked upon as a good honorable man in the beginning ;However, Kurtz changed from the beginning of the book to the end. These facts will reveal the cruel man that Kurtz became throughout the book.

First and foremost Kurtz is originally Europe. Kurtz is significant in both his style and eloquence. He is also significant imposing and megalomaniac scheming. In the beginning of the book this quote was used to describe Kurtz.”He is a prodigy, “He is an emissary and pity, and science, and progress, and devil, what else.* we want,” (Page 30). The brickmaker describes Kurtz as if he were a genius. He also showed that Kurtz had good leadership and potential by explaining that Kurtz will be the General Manager of the entire project soon. Not only did Kurtz impress the brickmaker, but he impressed Marlow by the large amount of ivory that have been exported.

Throughout the rest of the book Kurtz began to show his true colors. “ He said he would shoot me unless I gave him the ivory and cleared out of the country…” This quote showed how Kurtz changed throughout the book because, Kurtz was being disloyal to people who was actually caring for him. Also this quote shows how Kurtz acted as a religious figure, because  people feared Kurtz and did whatever he asked.

Lastly this quote showed how Kurtz changed.”The Horror! The Horror!” This quote showed that Kurtz  was obviously a bad man. He lived his life in greed. He also inflicted pain and sorrow on others lives and probably saw with his eyes in his last moments that he was a bad person.

Overall Kurtz was a bad person posing as a good person. People are not always the same person as you first met them people change. Throughout the whole book these were the changes that Kurtz experienced.

Non political revolution (CRR)

A non political revolution can be defined as a revolution that is not political. There were many non political revolutions that have changed societies. These revolutions had a variety of complex causes and had great impact on peoples lives. One of the many non political revolutions was the Industrial Revolution. One change that this revolution had on its society was that all of the work done by hand is now mainly done by machines.

The Industrial Revolution began in England in the early 18th century. Before the Industrial Revolution people lived on farms, hand crafted goods were made at home, everything were power supplied by humans and animals which is also known as agricultural lifestyle. After the Industrial Revolution people moved away from farms and began to move to cities, machines produce goods in factories, steam and water were used as power. This revolution changed the society by Creating other classes other than the “rich” and the poor” but the middle class which most of the majority were. Before the revolution began children did not go to school because they were poor.

Another non political Revolution was the Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution was an offshoot of the Renaissance in which scientists questioned traditional beliefs about the workings of the universe. One of the main ideas to come out of the Scientific Revolution was the use of the Scientific Method. Before the Revolution it was a medieval mindset everyone believed in the high authority (church) people saw the world in a highly structured, orderly way, which corresponded directly to social hierarchy. For example hell is supposed to be in the hot core of the earth and heaven is suppose to be above so peaceful and calm. After the revolution With Copernicus's new heliocentric cosmology, the "special status" of the earth faded, and people realized that we are simply one planet among many. This allowed people to question the authority of the Catholic Church on doctrinal and social norms, and helped to justify religious revolution.

In conclusion both of the these non political revolutions changed society they even make connections to today’s society. Also these revolution may have influenced others and changed people’s way of life and thinking.
